Let us put by some hour of every day for holy things...

I will not doubt, though all my ships at sea
Come drifting home with broken masts and sails.
I will believe the Hand which never fails,
From seeming evil, worketh good for me.
And though I weep because those sails are tattered,
Still will I cry, while my best hopes lie shattered:
I trust in Thee.
--Ann Kimmel

Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines, the labor of the olive shall fail and the fields shall yield no meat, the flock shall be cut off from the fold and there shall be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. Back in the Saddle

After a two-and-a-half week hiatus, I fired up the shops again and loaded some new merchandise.  Well, new OLD merchandise. I didn't accomplish half of what I had hoped to do while taking the break, but that's life. And I found that I missed the fun of selling on Etsy. So, back at it.

My husband has been busy the past few days with a long-awaited project:  the demolition of his old, ugly artificial pond in the back yard.  With Benita, our grandbaby, now walking, the pond had to go.  I'm not going to miss it.

The steps involved prying up the support boards so the water could begin draining from the liner. Then it was time to rescue the resident turtle and the goldfish.  More draining... add sunshine...  and today, shoveling the whole thing over with the tractor.  Rah, rah!!  A bit of grass seed and, voila!  No more eyesore.

The poms, of course, have found all this activity most exciting. They are a curious and intelligent breed, and they always want to check out what's going on.  This does sometimes have its negative repercussions, however:

Before the shoveling-in process was complete, Peppy decided to investigate those ghastly dog-delightful smelly odors from the greenish-black sludge left on the bottom of the pond liner. With disastrous results. Good thing my husband caught him when he did or Peppy would have been enthusiastically wallowing in the goo. As it was, he was only partially slathered in the nasty slime, and a hosing off (which Peppy hated, of course) soon rendered him socially acceptable once more.
