Let us put by some hour of every day for holy things...

I will not doubt, though all my ships at sea
Come drifting home with broken masts and sails.
I will believe the Hand which never fails,
From seeming evil, worketh good for me.
And though I weep because those sails are tattered,
Still will I cry, while my best hopes lie shattered:
I trust in Thee.
--Ann Kimmel

Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines, the labor of the olive shall fail and the fields shall yield no meat, the flock shall be cut off from the fold and there shall be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. Fish Gotta Swim

This is just going to be a short little post to show you something I'm excited about, and to give you a "heads up" on a couple of tutorials I'm planning.  (Tutorials! Doesn't that sound professional?)

I finished this wonderful spangle hat last night and just can't wait for you to see it.  I call it "The Queen of the Night".

That's a Mozart reference, of course, from his opera, The Magic Flute.  I can just imagine the evil queen flying in wearing this magical crochet loop hat, glinting and reflecting in the starlight.

(Don't know this one?  Check it out:)

It has over 200 silver and holographic extra-large sequins, or paillettes. It's all wool, so between that and the loopy texture, it's super warm. I was going to keep it myself but the truth is, I look like death warmed over in black. So I just put it on my MelmacParadise Etsy site. I'm just excited that I'm finally getting the shape of the loopy spangle hats the way I want them!

I've been doing the loop crochet stitch so often lately it's almost automatic and I have to watch myself when I'm working on something standard--good old double crochet, for instance.  I'm so jazzed, I keep thinking up new possibilities.

So many projects, so little time!!!!!!!!!!

Now, about those "tutorials". In view of its being Thanksgiving next week, I want to share a kitschy table favor project you can do with your kids or just for fun. Think candy, think turkeys...  It's been a family tradition with us for probably 25 years now.  I'll give you all the instructions, and lots of photos. Just check back in a day or two!

Also, how about the world's easiest, tastiest cranberry sauce recipe? I thought that might interest you!  Again, check back in a day or so, and I'll have it right here.  I LOVE this stuff and look forward to it every Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Okay, you're probably wondering about this post's title. This is a little slice of real life shared by my son, and I got such a kick out of it I thought you might, too.

He's a music teacher, and one of his students came to him excitedly yesterday with some new music about a favorite super-hero, wanting to learn it. The title was "I Can't Stop Loving Batman." Hunter took the student's book to examine the song. He discovered it was, in fact, an old Broadway musical tune from "Showboat":
"Can't Stop Lovin' That Man of Mine"!

I've been humming it all afternoon now and I doubt I'll ever be able to remember its proper lyrics again.

Fish gotta swim, birds gotta fly
I've gotta love Batman 'til I die--

Until next time--!  May God bless you all.
