Let us put by some hour of every day for holy things...

I will not doubt, though all my ships at sea
Come drifting home with broken masts and sails.
I will believe the Hand which never fails,
From seeming evil, worketh good for me.
And though I weep because those sails are tattered,
Still will I cry, while my best hopes lie shattered:
I trust in Thee.
--Ann Kimmel

Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines, the labor of the olive shall fail and the fields shall yield no meat, the flock shall be cut off from the fold and there shall be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. Busy Day Shuffling

Well, I'm still at it...  This will be the third day of this wretched process. Which brings me to my annual question:

Why can't we simply have a national sales tax
and forgo this annual turmoil???

Silly me. After all, the first rule of bureaucracy is that it must protect itself from being dismantled.

Well, I think I'm over the halfway point, at least. Yesterday I sorted and tallied and moved some stacks around, all the while watching youtube videos about true crime and Munchausen's Syndrome by proxy. It was diverting, if not cheery.

But take a look and you'll note the progress I've made:

What? You can't see it?
Of course, the obvious question for those of you organized types is why on earth I let it get out of control in the first place. I do try, honestly. Especially in the couple of weeks each year after I finish preparing for the bookkeeper. I make up a nice ledger and file my receipts carefully. Then real life kicks in again and I loose the ledger and stash the receipts somewhere where I'll be sure to find them next tax time...  You get the drill. I'm afraid it's just going to keep right on like this until I get the massive coronary some day and drop in my tracks. Or get hit by a truck. Trust me, I'm thinking about hurling myself in front of one right about now. I can only avoid this for another ten minutes or so.

Sigh...  signing off...

Menfolk are in charge of the housework until I finish this annoying job.
Note their enthusiasm and feverish activity.

Postscript...

4 1/2 hours today...

Time for another treasury, because it's important to find an outlet for stress.

  1. Ha! I NEED that coffee mug in the first treasury -- it defines me!
Both are great collections -- maybe the tax people should hire you to do their advertising...
