Let us put by some hour of every day for holy things...

I will not doubt, though all my ships at sea
Come drifting home with broken masts and sails.
I will believe the Hand which never fails,
From seeming evil, worketh good for me.
And though I weep because those sails are tattered,
Still will I cry, while my best hopes lie shattered:
I trust in Thee.
--Ann Kimmel

Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines, the labor of the olive shall fail and the fields shall yield no meat, the flock shall be cut off from the fold and there shall be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. Shameless Self Promotion, or My Quest to Get Trendy

Your assignment:

Click on the following link.

You do not need to know why

(though I will tell you why eventually.)

You do not need to be actually interested.

You do not need to understand;

Etsy works in mysterious ways.

Clicking will not infect your computer with a nasty virus.

Just do it.

You will see something cute.

I promise.

This is also something cute. It's my younger granddaughter with her beloved Flemish Giant baby bunny Twinkie.
That's Peppy is joining the fun in the second photo.

Those two photos have absolutely nothing to do with the rest of this blog post, but I tossed them in as a bonus. And yes, Twinkie is still a baby, relatively speaking. He's only about 12 pounds in this photo, and he has 10 or 20 more to go before he's full grown. Little Gwennie has 100 or so to go until she's full grown.

Okay, so what was with the link? I'll tell you. I want to be trendy!
Er... I mean, I want my ornaments to be trendy. Etsy-style. Not me, silly! I've been out of the loop all my life and I don't personally expect to get into it at this late point. (A noose, maybe, but not a loop.)

Now that Etsy's done away with treasuries on its front page (dopey decision, that) about the only way to get anyone to realize your items exist, other than their stumbling upon them accidentally or managing to type one of your key words into the search engine, is to be featured on Etsy's "Trending Items" page.

Getting onto that page means you have to have a lot of people who have somehow managed this feat of stumbling onto your item already and, further, been intrigued enough to click on your link. A lot of people. A lot of views. A lot of mysterious Etsy mumbo-jumbo behind the scenes, too, probably. I'm not sure about that part, I'm just surmising.

But recently I've been going at it full tilt, trying like mad to promote my handmade ornaments and tacky poodle cozies. And not being the kind of person who is tech-savvy or social-media savvy (or is that the same thing?) I'm at a disadvantage. I've never tweeted anything in my life, except for attempting to mimic bird calls and getting them to answer me in the privacy of my own backyard, that is. My shops don't have facebook pages. (Hey, it's hard enough to get readers here to this blog, where I'm not only trying to get you to buy things, let alone my fooling with facebook into the bargain.)

But anyway, after a full week of playing the game on various Etsy team and promo sites and still not being able to attain the proverbial five minutes of fame a showing on the trending page would bring, I'm desperate enough to call on you for help! So click, click, click the link! And yes, you can do it again! Here it is:

What a nice person you are! Don't you feel a warm glow of helpfulness coursing through your veins right this very moment?

Okay, here's a link to the said Trending Items page, so you can see what I'm talking about:

And now, if you'd like to feel even more warm glowing helpfulness, you can click these links as well:

You've been so good! Have yourself another Twinkie.

    1. Yes, now that you're living out in the country you must get yourself a rabbit! This breed is very calm and friendly, though he's temporarily in disgrace for marking his territory in the house as he's becoming sexually mature. He's due to to be neutered in a week or so when the vet says he's developed enough, and then he'll be an ideal house pet. I'll update you about him soon!
