Let us put by some hour of every day for holy things...

I will not doubt, though all my ships at sea
Come drifting home with broken masts and sails.
I will believe the Hand which never fails,
From seeming evil, worketh good for me.
And though I weep because those sails are tattered,
Still will I cry, while my best hopes lie shattered:
I trust in Thee.
--Ann Kimmel

Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines, the labor of the olive shall fail and the fields shall yield no meat, the flock shall be cut off from the fold and there shall be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. More About Meyercord

Meyercord Decal Shop, circa 1940. www.pinterest.com/pin/73746512623717499/
Catalog page from an early Meyercord catalog; circa 1940. I want those dogs!!!

Wow, the Meyercord post struck a nostalgic nerve, it seems. I had a big jump in views with that one. Well, it's easy to see why--they're pretty marvelous!

So today, instead of merely ooohing and aaahing over the decals themselves, I'd like to share some examples, both vintage and contemporary, of how these have been used.

(Of course, if you didn't get enough of those on the previous post, feel free to jump to this facebook video:  www.facebook.com/SheerTrashRoadshow/videos/321987218538356/ )

But, without further ado (whatever "ado" is), Behold!

Dig it! Not just her cool outfit, cat-eye glasses,  and orange lower cabinets, but those Meyercord decals on the upper cabinets!

This last photo is a closer look at the wooden tray I shared in my last post. I found it at a church rummage sale last week--that awesome cowboy decal made this one a no-brainer for hauling home.

I notice it's mostly the nursery furniture and some kitchenware that has survived. I wonder if that's because it was mostly used for those purposes, or because the cuteness-nostalgia factor influenced those pieces being saved? Both, probably. I'd sure like to find more examples.

But in digging through photos on Pinterest and various other sites on the web, I did find a few pics showing some new projects someone's made with these nifty old decals. These look simple and fun, make a good kid's craft--or crafter wannabe craft (including myself here, of course.) Okay, enough! I have so got to STOP. Perusing these decal images is addictive. But lest I leave you on a restful note, let me plant one more thought in your mind. Did you know these came in fuzzy???
Decals with "FEEL APPEAL". Oh, those Meyercord dastards!!

  1. OMG, my dad did the die cutting on some of those decals. Too bad the company went downhill after it was sold.
