Let us put by some hour of every day for holy things...

I will not doubt, though all my ships at sea
Come drifting home with broken masts and sails.
I will believe the Hand which never fails,
From seeming evil, worketh good for me.
And though I weep because those sails are tattered,
Still will I cry, while my best hopes lie shattered:
I trust in Thee.

Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines, the labor of the olive shall fail and the fields shall yield no meat, the flock shall be cut off from the fold and there shall be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. Wow, stuff like this really does happen!

Hey, something cool happened!  A couple of weeks ago, I found this pin at a garage sale, and paid a buck for it.  My intention was to sell it on the My Pal Peppy site, and hopefully garner six or seven dollars' profit for it. It was just unusual enough, though, that I hesitated, thinking to try and identify it before listing it. Am I glad I did!

Last night, a bit of internet sleuthing helped me identify this as a design patented Coro brooch dating from the early forties. More investigating turned up a similar pin listed by the shop "Aged and Opulent Jewelry" (also on Etsy) and their pin is priced at $135!  I sent the owner photos of my pin, and was quickly rewarded by the response that my pin is indeed an authentic Coro brooch, and that it was a lucky find. I was also instructed not to polish it, as that would detract from its value.

This is super! I don't know whether I will sell it eventually or not. I've got to wear it a few times first, at least. What fun to acquire a collectible "find" of my very own!

Junking is the ultimate cheap thrill!
